It’s good to be back after 3 weeks away – rested and ready to catch up with things. I have just spent a couple of weeks on the bike crossing France with a group – long days in the saddle, but good company, good beer and good food in the evening. All in all, I rode about 1200 kilometres from Caen to Montpelier and celebrated by a paddle in the Med. Afterwards I visited some family, including a new baby second cousin called Toby – a little bundle of joy, although he has yet to learn the art of sleeping.
The cycling puts me a good place for the 100 mile cycle ride, although I am only probably up as far as riding 75 miles in a day, so a little gap still exists. The schools are organising a couple of 100 challenges – St Faith & St Martin CE Junior school are challenging every class to complete 100 laps of their track either cycling, scooting, running or walking and St Faith’s CE Infants are looking to sing 100 songs on the day to raise money for the fund through sponsorship. Bishop Nicholas will be on BBC Radio Lincolnshire about the ride this week and also at the Lincolnshire Show on Wednesday. I hope to make the Diocesan tent on Thursday to do the same however I am also playing/ marching in the show with the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Concert Band.
A coffee morning was held yesterday at St Faith’s Hall initiated by Helen T. Despite only a few people coming along to the morning, £53.90 was raised for the church. Thanks to Helen T, Jake, Sue, Caroline and Gill for helping with the morning and lastly for Helen D for picking up the Fairtrade stall – please have a look a before you go, there are some new items available.
Looking forward, St faith’s will soon be 125 years old and we are trying to do something special for the year. Some of you will remember the 100 year celebration and your ideas and input will be welcome and will be asked for. Firstly we need to put a group together to help organise the year, a meeting on 14th July for those who might like to help here has been organised. Please think about being part of this important moment in the life of St Faith’s and help you may be able to contribute.
Have a good week and God bless, Revd Julie
