I want to start off with a word of thanks for everyone who stayed behind to clean the church last week after the service. It is amazing the difference that it makes when you enter the church after the cleaning has been done: there is a noticeable difference in both the look and the freshness in the air. A bit more cleaning took place on Wednesday. I also want to say thanks to Kathy & to everyone who helped her tidy up the south churchyard on Wednesday – the garden has been transformed too. Another trip to the tip means the rubbish that has been building in the churchyards has been removed again. More good news is that the scout group are looking to tidy up the north churchyard that has been overtaken with weeds.
This week, I delivered the shields that were purchased from the ‘Mary Trevis’ legacy; they will be awarded for ‘Progress in Music’. There was one for each of our 2 local schools: St Faith & St Martin CE Junior School and St Faith’s CE Infant & Nursery School.
On Tuesday, I was back in the police station as part of my role as volunteer police chaplain. On Wednesday, I was at Ridgeway Care Home looking at ways that the residents there may be able to participate in some of activities/ services. If you have any ideas in this area then please do let me know.
In a couple of weeks, we will be having our usual St Faith’s day lunch as we celebrate Harvest too. I am hoping we may be joined by some of the scout group. During the service we will be commissioning leaders or other people who work with children. So if you think of anyone for whom this may be suitable to invite them along then please do have a chat with me about this.
Have a good week, God bless, Rev’d Julie
